Basketball at the 1992 Summer Olympics was the thirteenth appearance of the sport of basketball as an official Olympic medal event. It included the sport of basketball's men's competition.

The Men's Tournament

The men's tournament of basketball at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, began on July 26 and ended on August 8. This was the first time that NBA players were eligible to compete in the Olympics.

The 1992 United States men's Olympic basketball team, nicknamed the Dream Team, was the first American Olympic team to feature active professional players from the NBA. The team was composed of some of the greatest basketball players in the world, including Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird.

The Dream Team dominated the competition, winning all eight of their games by an average of 43.8 points. They defeated Croatia in the gold medal game, 117-85.
